The Richard L. Schlegel National Legion of Honor Award for an Emerging Activist is given to a U.S. based high school student or college undergraduate who has made outstanding contributions to lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) communities through activism, advocacy, education, and/or policy. Individuals who are working in churches, elementary schools, with women and/or trans/genderqueer people, people of color, and international/immigrant communities are highly encouraged for nominations.
