Mission High School, San Francisc, CA
Dear Queer, Trans & Ally Youth of Santa Cruz County,
For the 9th year in a row, school districts, GSA advisors, community organizations and private donors will come together to send Santa Cruz County LGBTIQ & Ally youth to the Youth Empowerment Summit (YES) in San Francisco on Saturday November 17, 2018.
YES is a free day-long annual conference for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer (LGBTQ) and ally youth activists who are dedicated to racial, economic, and educational justice for trans* and queer youth. YES is youth-planned and led and organized by the GSA Network.
If you would like to participate in YES, please contact your school’s QSA advisor for registration and permission slip.
While participants do not need to be active members of their school’s QSA, it is expected that participants demonstrate leadership capacity (e.g., involvement with ASB or school leadership, advocacy for LGBTQ issues or other marginalized groups). Because the QSA advisors are the primary contact for the event, all participants must have the approval of their school’s advisor to attend. If you are not a member of your school’s QSA, you must provide a short letter of recommendation from a teacher or club advisor. Participation is contingent on the availability of space and priority will be given to active QSA members.
Special thank you to Pàjaro Valley Unified School District (PVUSD) for providing buses to help make attendance to this confernce pissible. Additionally, thank you to all the GSA, QSA and SAGA Advisors and Chaperones.
