Dear LGBTQIA+ Students of Santa Cruz County,
We are very excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the 2021-2022 Queer and Trans Youth Council of Santa Cruz County (QTYC)! We are looking for high school youth from across Santa Cruz County to be a part of a close-knit, hardworking team who will be a catalyst for change within the county.
Our mission is to heighten a sense of community and solidarity among the queer and trans youth of Santa Cruz County. The council also tackles the hardships LGBTQIA+ youth face by acting as a bridge to the larger community as an advisory chamber to the Queer Youth Task Force of Santa Cruz County. The council will highlight LGBTQIA+ youth voices by assessing the needs of the community and finding ways to support them, including organizing themed events, addressing LGBTQIA+ inclusive education concerns, and more!
The Queer and Trans Youth Council of Santa Cruz County (QTYC) is proud to announce our partnership with the Santa Cruz County Office of Education Alliance for Youth Action. The Alliance is a multi-disciplinary alliance between various student leadership groups throughout Santa Cruz County to share ideas, learn new skills, and support one another’s initiatives. We will meet as a collaborative bi-monthly to build community, leadership, and sustainable change.
We hope you can help us in achieving our vision: For queer and trans youth to be able to live a life of prosperity and to be accepted and supported in expressing their identity in their communities.
We ask that you submit the application by Friday, September 10 at 11:59 pm.
Interviews via Zoom will take place the week of September 20th.
Our first meeting is planned for the first week of October.
If you have any questions please review our FAQ. We look forward to receiving your applications!
