1. Harvey Milk Day, May 22 California Governor Jerry Brown officially proclaimed Sunday, May 22, Harvey Milk Day. Last year Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed into law the Harvey Milk Day bill, in honor of the slain San Francisco supervisor who fought for LGBT rights. The proclamation begins by saying, “In 1977, Harvey Milk was elected to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors, becoming the first openly gay man in the history of the United States to be elected to public office. This milestone achievement gave hope to millions of gays and lesbians across the country that a day would come when they could live their lives openly and honestly without fear of discrimination.”

4. Stop Bullying. Let's Pass Seth's Law From the ACLU: "The California Assembly is getting ready to vote on an important anti-bullying bill. This bill would make sure every school in the state knows how to prevent and deal with bullying and harassment. It’s called Seth’s Law, in honor of Seth Walsh, who was 13 years old when he took his own life last year. Seth endured years of anti-gay bullying at school. His mother complained to the school and was told, “Remind me next year.” Seth doesn’t have a next year." Help make sure every student in California is safe.
